I’m Theresa (you can call me Tess), an acupuncturist, yoga instructor and health coach based in Reading.
My practice approach is shaped by my own health journey. While studying performance dance at university, I had to put my studies on hold to undergo treatment for cancer. My medical team was brilliant, and I’m deeply grateful for the care they gave me. But the experience also showed me how much of what I was going through, physically, emotionally and in daily life, sat outside the focus of treatment. I craved care that saw me as a whole person and continued to supported me between doctor visits.
I went on to enjoy 15 years in physical work as a personal trainer, yoga and Pilates instructor, and bodyworker, until fibromyalgia forced me to slow down again. Compassionate complementary care, alongside my conventional medical treatment, helped me rebuild a fuller life after both my cancer treatment and fibromyalgia diagnosis, and inspired me to train as an acupuncturist and health coach.
If you're one of the estimated 43% of UK adults living with chronic pain (Fayaz et al., BMJ Open, 2016), I know what it's like to plan a day around your energy, to push through and pay for it later, and to be frustrated by the vague advice to "learn to live with it". Across all my services, I work most closely with people living with chronic pain and other long-term conditions. But if you're here for relaxation, muscle tension, general wellness or another goal altogether, you're just as welcome. Whatever brings you here, my sessions are gentle, judgement-free and tailored to you as a whole person.
